In short
Foluna has no account, no advertising and no tracking. Your library, your notes and your settings stay on your Mac. The developer receives none of your data.
The Foluna app
Everything Foluna knows about your books is stored on your Mac, in ~/Library/Application Support/Alexandrie/. If you turn on backups, a copy goes to the folder you choose (iCloud Drive or an external disk).
Foluna connects to the internet only for the following, and sends only what each one needs:
- Checking for updates: the app asks GitHub for the latest version of Foluna. No personal information is sent.
- Online check of new books: the ISBN, or the title and author, of a book is sent to the BnF catalogue and to Open Library to suggest corrections and covers.
- Online catalogues: when you browse a catalogue (Project Gutenberg or another OPDS catalogue), your searches and downloads go to that catalogue.
- Zotero: notes are sent to the Zotero app on your own Mac, never over the internet by Foluna.
These services receive your IP address like any website does, and apply their own privacy policies. Foluna has no analytics and no crash reporting.
The foluna.app website
This website uses no cookies, no analytics and no third-party content. It is hosted by Infomaniak in Switzerland, whose servers keep technical logs (IP address, date, page requested) for security and operation, for a limited time. The download button leads to GitHub, which has its own privacy policy.
